CompressToFit

Free · No upload · No watermark · No signup

Compress a video, image or PDF to fit any limit

Without uploading it anywhere. Compression runs on your own machine, so there is no queue and no cap — and the result is measured, not estimated, so it is genuinely under the limit rather than approximately under it.

Step 1: where are you sending it?

1Where is it going?

2Add your file

Video, images and PDFs, all compressed on your own machine. No upload, no account, no watermark, no limit on how many files.

Three kinds of file

What you can drop in

Each one reaches your number a different way, because each has a different dial to turn.

Video

MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, AVI

Re-encoded with your machine's own hardware encoder, then measured and re-encoded if it came in over.

Images

JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP

Quality is bisected against real measurements — around eight encodes, each a few milliseconds — so it lands just under your limit rather than far below it.

PDFs

Any PDF up to 300 pages

A lossless rewrite is tried first, which keeps text selectable. Only if that is not enough do the pages become images, and you are told before it happens.

Office files and archives — .docx, .xlsx, .zip — are turned away on purpose. They are already compressed inside, so squeezing them again typically saves under 2%, and with no quality to trade there is no way to guarantee they land under your number. Promising otherwise is the one thing this tool will not do.

Nothing is uploaded

Compression runs on your own machine using your browser's built-in encoders. The file never touches a server, so there is no queue, no upload bar, and no copy of it anywhere but your disk.

Guaranteed under the limit

We encode, measure the actual bytes, and try again if it came in over. You get a file that is genuinely under the number -- not approximately under it.

No watermark, no signup, no cap

Running on your device costs us nothing per file, so there is nothing to ration. Unlimited files, no account, no watermark, permanently.

Reference

Current platform limits

The number a platform advertises is not always the number your file has to come in under. Where they differ, we target the one that actually works.

Presets

Compress video to a set size

Each of these is the same tool, already set to that number.

Compress images to a set size

The sizes exam, visa and job portals ask for — quality is bisected against the real byte count to land just under.

Compress pdfs to a set size

A lossless rewrite is tried first at every one of these, so the text can stay selectable.
